Property Development AnalystReporting Relationship: COOLocation: New York, New YorkPosition Overview:We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic self-starter with Douglaston Development.Douglaston Development is a New York based, privately-held, full-service real estate development, investment and management firm. The firm’s primary focus in on ground-up, multifamily and hospitality development projects in and around New York City, but we actively pursue similar opportunities in other major US markets as well. The role presents an opportunity to leverage an established analytical skill set while gaining a foothold in the dynamic world of New York City real estate development.The Development Analyst will support multiple projects teams underwriting, planning and executing the firm’s active development pipeline.Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:Prepare financial models, projections, and sensitivities for development opportunities including budget creation, proforma analysis, debt and equity structuring, identifying market and leasing assumptions, as well as scope determination and waterfall return analysis.Research market data/demographics including interfacing with third parties to verify lease, sale and resale information.Conduct due diligence to support investment decisionsImplement necessary processes to update the budget forecasts on a monthly basis and manage budget and schedule tracking for the firm major development projectsSupport COO with the execution of active development projectsWork on special projects and collaborate with other disciplines as requiredQualifications:Bachelor's degree required2+ years of professional experience working within an investment bank, top-tier management consulting firm, institutional investment fund, or real estate sponsor is preferred.Outstanding proficiency in creating complex financial models for financial analysis using Excel, including knowledge of advanced Excel functions. Argus proficiency is not required.Detail oriented, a self-starter and diligent.Strong analytical, quantitative, and communication skills.Demonstrable understanding of financial statements, use of comparative data and financial forecasting is required.Ability to work in a challenging, fast paced environment and handle multiple projects at the same time.
